What is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC)?
A Continuing Care Retirement Community is a wonderful retirement option that offers to its residents a wide variety of housing and health care options. As an Independent Living resident you reside in your spacious home on a beautifully landscaped community with 24 hour a day security but without all the worries of maintenance, repairs, or snow removal. Meals are available in the community dining areas or you can cook in your own kitchen. Meet with your new friends and enjoy an active lifestyle.
However, as your personal needs change you can take advantage of a wide variety of health care options – sub-acute care, assisted living, dementia care, and skilled nursing – available right on the campus.
How does a Continuing Care Retirement Community differ from other types of senior living such as active adult communities or assisted living?
A Continuing Care Retirement Community is a wonderful retirement option that offers to its residents a wide variety of housing and health care options. Active Adult Communities offer homes or condominiums on a community campus usually with a club house, swimming pool and community generated activities. Although the grounds are maintained by the community you are responsible for the upkeep of your home. Also, if your personal needs change there are no health care options available on the campus and you may have to make another move to get the care you need.
If a person needs some help every day, but not constant nursing care then assisted living is a good choice for you. Assisted Living communities provide help with things people need every day such as bathing, cooking, cleaning, shopping or taking medicines, while still giving people the chance to live active lifestyles and remain as independent as possible.
